DURHAM, N.H.— 'day Mates!

I've been down under for a little over a month now, battling through the tough winter days of about 22 degrees Celsius here in Brisbane, Australia and classes of three days a week.  I'm taking two sport classes (Toni Rossi says to say "G'day Steve"), one communication class, and a music class.  Someone has to do it I guess...haha.

I first arrived in Cairns and spent my first three days feeding kangaroos, taking pictures with Koala's, and scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef.  Australearn, which is the company I went through, really set up a great orientation for us from our place to stay/food to the awesome day trips.  I then traveled down to Brisbane with a few other mates in the program also going to the University of Queensland and discovered what was to be my home for the next four months.  I live in an apartment building about 20 minute walk from campus.  I have 5 flat mates (2 are from Aussie!!!) and a bunch of other international students live in the building which is pretty cool.  I can see the city sky line from my roof top and the Brisbane river (One mode of transportation here in Brissy) is a block away.  I'm living the life of Riley as my dad would say!

Went to an AFL (Aussie Football League...mix between soccer and rugby...Brisbane Lions) and a Rugby League (Go Bronco's) game here in Brissy with a bunch of mates.  The locals here are more than happy to explain the game to you as you sit and watch, which is really awesome/helpful.

Also, I bought a surf board and am trying to perfect my skills as a surfer...progress is a bit slow, but none the less a great time!  A bunch of us just took a weekend surf trip last weekend which was such an awesome time, nothing but surfing and chillen.  I've been up to the Sunshine Coast and down to the Gold Coast a few times.  The public transportation is pretty good here, which makes traveling very accessible.  I hope to take a few big trips over the next few months, hopefully reaching some remote places.

I attached a few pics of my travels so far...

Cheers,
